Fellowship for Political Reform
MAYDAY.US is a grassroots, non-partisan campaign to fight big money corruption in politic$. We help elect reformers who will pass laws for citizen-funded elections. Founded by Lawrence Lessig and Mark McKinnon.
We want YOU to be part of the next American Revolution. Yeah, you. MAYDAY.US Fellows will play a key role in the campaign, assisting with communications and organizing.
Time
Put in approximately 5-10 hours per week for at least 10 weeks during the spring term. If you want to be full time, we can discuss it. Student status is welcome but not required. College credit available depending on your institution’s policies.
Location
Remote. We work through the tubes of the Internet, including Georgia, Vermont, New York...
Responsibilities
Depending on your interests and skills, responsibilities may include:
- Citizen organizing ✊
- Help execute organizing and fundraising events, often using the NationBuilder organizing platform
- Assist with citizen engagement in online organizing forums and calls
- Digital campaigning 💻
- Learn the latest in online organizing
- Draft social media and schedule posts to support campaign initiatives
- Draft targeted emails
- Assist with streamlining digital processes and data
- Graphic and/or web design (depending on interest/skill)
- Press and research 🔦
- Help citizens publish relevant letters to the editor
- Research news outlets and assist with contacts and follow-ups
- Compensation 💰 - On top of a $500 stipend for the part-time fellowship (a small number available), you’ll get to work with revolutionary leaders, including Zephyr Teachout, Lawrence Lessig, and the MAYDAY.US Team. Plus, we’ll get ourselves a real democracy. Sweet.
