Executive Director

Mayday is looking to hire an executive director. The ED will be Mayday's chief strategist, devoted first and foremost to upending American reliance on privately-funded elections. We are seeking someone who is strategic, unafraid, works well with others, and is dedicated to the democratic and moral importance of public financing. We are at a crossroads in our organization and in the country, and the Executive Director will first forge and then implement our new strategies.

The Executive Director is employed by Mayday and reports to Zephyr Teachout and the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is accountable for the organization's fundraising, fiscal management, human resources, donor and member relations, press and public relations, and, most importantly, strategy.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in social and political activism, nonprofit or for-profit management, fundraising, coalition-building and will have a broad understanding of history of public financing campaigns. We are seeking a candidate who can articulate an organizational strategic vision, engage community members and leaders of diverse backgrounds and viewpoints, is resilient, free-thinking, and willing to take risks.

No candidate will have all the skills needed: a great candidate will recognize what he or she lacks, and have a theory about how to fill that gap.
